It is important to take legal advice about making a Will, even if you have only a few possessions or a small amount to leave. A Solicitor will advise you on a Will. It is important because the language in a Will needs to be precise if it is to have legal standing.

Wards Solicitors provide a ‘free’ Will writing Service on the last Friday of every month held at our premises in Victoria Street. All we request is a £30 voluntary donation for each Will however, if you are unable to afford this amount please discuss it with us.
The Will writing service is available to over 55’s, by appointment only, in advance, Contact Information and Advice for a Will pack.

It is a good idea to take a fresh look at your Will at least every 2-3 years.

You can change your Will whenever you like and as many times as you like, it need not be expensive if you prepare before meeting your legal adviser.
Changing your Will is a wonderful opportunity to include a mention for a good cause. Any money left to a charity in your Will is exempt from tax so this is one way you could avoid inheritance tax.
