The 50th anniversary of World War 2 has been an opportunity for many older people to recall their own memories of living through and surviving this period of our history. The BBC was keen to ensure that these experiences were not lost to future generations and have created a website where people can record their stories as part of our national history.
We ran a series of computer training sessions that incorporated opportunities to collect individual's experiences of World War 2 which we then uploaded onto the BBC Peoples' War Website. These sessions involved current service users in group sessions at the Roundhouse or at our offices in Canningford House. Running alongside the group sessions we also trained volunteers to collect stories from service users in their own homes through our Befriending and Supporting People services.
