Handyperson service

Who may use the service?

Older people who live within the Bristol boundaries and need help with basic household and maintenance tasks. This service is primarily available to people over the age of 55 but consideration will also be given to people over the age of fifty with a disability.

What jobs can be undertaken?

Typical jobs undertaken are:

* Small fixings

* Fitting smoke alarms

* Fit curtain rails

* Fit hand rails

* Fit small shelves

* Fit banister to stairs

* Fit door spy holes

* Replace tap washers

* Repairs to door bells

* Replace light bulbs

* Tack down loose carpets

* Ease sticking doors

* Repair door hinges

* Fit door chains

* Fit door bolts

* Small misc. repairs to household

 

How can you access the Service?

Contact Practical Services.

An appointment will be made for a volunteer to undertake the work at a mutually convenient time. We do our best to keep the gap between when you contact us, and when we make an appointment as small as possible.

All volunteers carry Age Concern Bristol identification.

How much does it cost?

All labour is free of charge but any materials required to carry out the work must be paid for. We are happy to receive a donation of £7 per visit, if you wish to make one.
