This week, in Bristol TV Chef and Mum Lesley Waters helped dish up a delicious roast lunch to Age Concern Bristol Day Service Users at the Withywood Community Centre Café. The meal was prepared by the café but had all the mouth watering trimmings, courtesy of Aunt Bessie’s. The event was a huge success and great fun for members of the New Beginnings Day Service.
Lesley helped serve the delicious Sunday lunch and entertained the group with stories of her career as a famous chef. The visit was part of a national roadshow aiming to spread the word about The Great Sunday Lunch, a charity initiative to raise money for Age Concern and Help the Aged, which Aunt Bessie’s are proud to be supporting.
Lesley served up the scrumptious roast with all the trimmings including Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire Puddings, roast and mashed potatoes, sausagemeat stuffing balls and honey glazed roast parsnips, followed by Bramley apple pie and custard.
Jessica Lewin from Age Concern Bristol commented, ‘We were delighted with the response we got from this Great Sunday Lunch event. It was a great way for everyone to get together, enjoy a delicious meal and talk about bygone times. Lesley was brilliant and made everyone feel special”.
The Great Sunday Lunch is the flagship fundraising campaign from Age Concern and Help the Aged. Proudly sponsored by Aunt Bessie’s for the second year, the campaign aims to encourage friends and families to get together and host a fun-filled Great Sunday Lunch on or around 18th October to raise funds for older people, for whom Sunday can be a lonely and difficult time.
