What we do

Malcom by river Our offices can be found in the heart of the city, near to Bristol Bridge. We are on a major bus route, there are parking meters nearby and we are fully accessible to people with mobility difficulties.

The main office opening hours are between 10am and 1pm and 2pm and 4pm. Outside of our opening hours and during busy periods we operate an answer phone service.

Our services:

Information and Advice

  • Free, confidential advice and advocacy for the over 55's living within the Bristol boundaries
  • Office appointments and home visits available
  • Open 10am to 1pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • Open 10am to 3.30pm Tuesdays

Insurance and Trading

  • Home Insurance
  • Car and travel insurance (no upper age limit)
  • Aid-call alarm buttons, fresh flowers by post, gas and electricity, pre-paid funeral plan
  • Open 10am to 1pm, 2pm and 4pm Monday to Friday

Practical Services

  • For people over the age of 55 who live within the Bristol boundaries
  • Small jobs around the home
  • Basic gardening April to October
  • Vetted tradesperson list
  • Home Safety Assessment Scheme
  • Open 10am to 1pm, 2pm to 3.30pm Monday to Friday

Link-Up

  • Support for isolated people over the age of 60, living alone within the Bristol boundaries
  • Support and a friendly face
  • Help to regain confidence after illness or bereavement
  • Support to get involved in activities and outings

Roundhouse Day Centre

  • For people over the age of 65 who live within indentified areas of South Bristol
  • Day care for up to 100 people per week
  • 2 course meal and activities programme provided
  • Accessible transport available
  • Places by referral

Housing Support Service

  • For people over the age of 55 who live within the Bristol boundaries
  • The Housing Support team promotes the independence of people over the age of 55 years to help maintain and develop the ability to remain living in their own home
  • Help with life skills, management of finances, help dealing with correspondence, advocacy, signposting to other organizations
  • Referrals are made by housing officers, health professionals, social services, family or self

Community Development Project

  • Giving people over the age of 60 the opportunity to be part of local action groups collectively called the Go Getters
  • Available to those living in Brislington, Bedminster Down, Headley Park, Knowle, Stockwood or Whitchurch
  • Improving community relationships between older people and local communities
  • Increase personal independence and reducing social isolation

Computer Learning Courses

  • An introduction to using computers
  • Open to everyone over 55 who live within the Bristol Boundaries
  • Five 2-hour sessions at weekly intervals
  • Courses held at Age Concern Bristol's offices on Victoria Street

Meeting Room for Hire

  • Room Hire available between 9am and 5pm
  • Costs are inclusive of tea, coffee and biscuits
  • Catering contacts can be supplied upon request
  • Equipment available upon request
  • £120 per day or £70 per half day
  • 20% discount for charities
